What happens next
Oklahoma is a use-and-file state: insurers can use new rates before filing them and must file within 30 days after the effective date. The department says that because Oklahoma's homeowners market is considered competitive, it cannot disapprove a rate for being too high; it can disapprove rates that are unfairly discriminatory or inadequate. From July 1, 2027, under House Bill 3781, rates must be filed 30 days before they take effect, and the department must post notice of homeowners rate increases on its website. More on the process is on our Oklahoma page.
